How long does it take to complete the adventure?
- Even by following a complete solution script it would take the best part of an hour to complete the game. This means you will have many weeks and months of discovery to get to that point. Remember you can "save" and re-"load" a game at any point.
Can the game always be solved by the same solution script, or are elements randomised?
- We confirm the game can always be solved with the same solution script as the key script elements are not randomised. It's just too big for that and very few people would want to bother with it. That said, some non-critical things are randomised: The food and drink that appear sporadically in the various locations is randomised, as are the amounts of money you can find. The dialogue of the characters is also randomised to a small degree, but this in no way affects the gameplay. In the final zone however, some items are so radioactive you will have to drop them maybe once or twice, whereupon you will need to go and search for food to replenish your energy before picking them back up again. In any case, your energy drains slowly in all zones so you will always need to 'divert' briefly from a solution script to top up your energy before continuing.
Are there any Easter eggs?
- That would be telling, wouldn't it?
Where were the pictures taken?
- They are nearly all from various areas of Southern England and Wales in the UK.
What is the source of the pictures?
- None of them are open source nor have they been sourced from any commercial organisation - every single one was taken on our own mobile phones during the summer months of 2022, and as such all text and images are defacto copyright.
Are there any undocumented commands?
- Apart from the hypothetical Easter eggs, there are a couple of fun commands available that are not required in any sense to complete the game:
Type "where is this really" or "wit" to find out where the photo was actually taken if you are interested.
Type "historical detail" or "hd" to read fictitious historical detail about your current location ( The game is based in a fictitious island off the coast of Southern Britain but in an alternative universe. )
How does the save and load feature work?
You can save where you are 'up to' in any game by typing 'save' and you can re-load that by typing 'load.' Be assured that there is no danger whatsoever that you will get into a situation which 'can't be solved' unlike some other games. This is stupidly frustrating and has been deliberately avoided. This means, in effect, at the end of any game session you may as well hit save as this will allow you to start off from the same point the next time by typing 'load.' You can't just leave your browser open, there is a timer that slowly reduces your energy. The saved game is stored as a 'local storage' on your computer. There are no normal cookies and no game state communication with the server; everything runs local on your machine. This does however mean you can only load a previous game from the same computer you used previously.
